We are using a new concept of Christian Education in our area to reach our youth with the Good News! We have implemented a Computer Lab and an Arts Lab, using Christian teaching software with the computers, and on a rotation schedule, the lesson is followed by a “hands on” project which reinforces the biblical reference. The kids in our new 2011 program were asked to come up with their own group name, team names and logo. As a result, the two teams of FlameStarters and SonSeekers, known collectively as HCC Kids for Christ, are now “Seeking – Learning – Growing – Believing”. Their swirling rainbow-colored logo reminds them of God’s promise from Genesis 9:13 – “I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.” As children of God, they are learning that when they are his, he is with them, “No Matter What”. Our future plans, while teaching them about God’s planned pathway for their created life, are to lead them to discover the joy of outreach ministry through related mission work and activity. The youth are also becoming responsible for the electronic media needs of our church, by taking care of website and Facebook communications for HCC. We know our youth are the future of our church, and trust their growing discipleship will keep us planted firmly in our community.
